Portfolio Prep Reminders

Parents or guardians are welcome to attend the first Portfolio Prep online class. We will be doing an overview of the requirements for Mayfield in plain English. We will also discuss how the class will run, what materials are provided and what you need to purchase.

Start Time:

Please sign on to Zoom 10 minutes before class is scheduled to start in order to work out any technical difficulties. If you have trouble signing in, please TEXT us at 647-839-8001. We will accept texts until the class start time. After that time, our phone will be used for the Zoom class and may not be answered for some time. Students that sign on after class has started may have to wait to be let in.

Materials and Equipment:

Please bring your available materials to the first class. Students that have purchased the Portfolio Supply Kit will receive them in time for the second class. A sample kit will be available and can be ordered at the first class.

Technology: Students will require a clear view of the class using a computer with webcam, a tablet or a phone. They will require a microphone and decent lighting for their work area. A good internet connection is also important, although we will be as reasonable as possible when interruptions occur due to technical difficulties. We encourage all students and parents to become familiar with how to use Zoom before the first class.

The instructor will mute the class while teaching and students will be able to 'raise hand' for questions.

Parents: It is advantageous to have two screens for class: One that shows the student and one that is pointed down to what they are working on. We use this set up as well - our computer for the class screen and our phone on a selfie tripod showing our hands. If you decide to do multiple screens, let us know so that we can send an invite to your text or email for the additional device. If you cannot do two screens, the ability to rotate the student's device on a tripod will also help greatly. Feel free to call us to discuss the set up.

What if my child misses a class?

There are no refunds for missed classes.  As these are 'LIVE' classes, it is no different than being in the classroom. If a student misses a class, there are no make-up classes available.   As this is a progressive art course, students are encouraged to be in attendance for all the classes if possible. Dates for all classes are given in advance.

Only if a similar class is being taught on a different day and time, will we do our best to accomodate your child, but we will not provide a separate make up class.
