Art Classes

Progressive Art offers art classes for all ages. Click on a link below for a summary of the program listed. Each program has 8 different themed courses. Each course within the program is 8 weeks long. These run only during the school calendar year, Fall, Winter and Spring.

We categorize our courses by age group and subjects, not by levels. Use our new search program to find a course by subject or by age.

Intro to Art - Ages 5-7 - 1 course offered per season (Saturdays only)

Art Fundamentals - Ages 8-12 - 2 courses offered per season (Fri/Sat)

Teen Art Program - Ages 13-18 - 1 course offered per season (Fridays only)

Some parents have asked us why we only offer one course per season. The simple answer is, there is only one of me, Daniela Easter, professional artist and art educator and I currently teach all of the courses.

The more complicated answer is that when I created my program, I did not intend for it to be a drop in program. I wanted a serious fine arts program, where serious art loving students could develop their skills over time. So my program is like school, with lesson plans that focus on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. We cover one subject per course. Sometimes we focus on drawing, sometimes the focus is on painting. Students that stick with the program develop well rounded-out drawing and painting skills. Students that take just one course develop the skills taught on that one subject, during that one course. All skill levels are welcome.

Specialty Programs and Camps

We also offer specialty courses during vacation periods or for specific groups. These programs are available based on demand and scheduling.

Portfolio Prep:

Portfolio Prep for Grade 8 only. This course is offered as an 8 week program in the fall of each year on Saturdays, 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. It's purpose is to help guide students through the visual arts audition process for Mayfield Art School.

Art Sessions - March Art Daze and July Art Daze:

During March Break and the month of July, we offer 3 hour art sessions that focus on the completion of one project. Our art sessions are scheduled with one project in the morning from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and another in the afternoon from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Students may enroll in just one session or stay for the entire day or multiple days. Multi-day discounts are available for these sessions. Activities change every year and are rotated every 5 years.
