Overview of Program

Our Art Fundamentals program runs for 3 seasons each year: Fall, Winter and Spring.  Each season features 2 different courses to choose from.  Each course is taught for 8 classes, 1.5 hours per class for a total of 12 hours of instruction per course.

Please note that the same course is taught on Friday and on Saturday morning to accommodate different schedules.

There are 8 courses in the program ranging from drawing to painting.  They are taught in rotation, one through eight.  Each course teaches the use and care of new materials, new drawing or painting techniques and professional demonstrations and videos.  Class discussions and active participation are strongly encouraged.  Visits to exhibitions at the Beaux-Arts Brampton Gallery encourage students to freely express themselves about art.

Each class includes specific points of art instruction on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design, using the proper art terminology.

Materials and works in progress are kept at the workshop and are worked on in class. At the end of the course, all projects will be taken home.

Students also receive 5 sketchbook activities to be completed and turned in during the 8 weeks.  The activities may or may not apply to the course being studied.  Their objective is to keep the creative juices flowing during the week and they give the instructor an opportunity to see each student's personal drawing style. In this way, we can also provide personal assistance to fit each student's needs.
